ADM introduces on-trend soft drink, plant-based and vegan concepts
28 Nov 2017 --- From plant-based ‘pulled meat’, to delicious sugar-reduced chocolate, confectionary, snacks and beverages, Archer Daniels Midland Company is showcasing a wide range of on-trend concepts at Fi Europe.
The experts in agricultural processing and providing food ingredients, ADM is bringing a range of great tasting concepts that tap into clean label trends as well as meeting consumers’ evolving needs for nutrition, taste and convenience.
Among the products are soft drinks featuring natural exotic flavors and innovative flavor combinations, such as coconut, lychee and passionfruit, and mango and lime.
Other prototypes demonstrate how ADM can support developers in creating clean label foods and in doing so meet consumer demand for products that are high in protein or fiber, or low in sugar and calories.
Rise in vegan and “flexi” trends
ADM says it realizes how vegetarian, vegan and flexitarian diets trends are increasingly popular across Europe, with plant-based foods becoming more popular than ever. And the company will also be introducing plant-based foods aimed at developers looking for ways to tap into this growing trend.
There will be a nutritious meat-free black bean burger, while a vegan wrap concept demonstrates ADM’s broad expertise in formulating meat analogs with unique fibrous textures.
Visitors to the ADM booth can also explore the potential of emerging vegan categories, tasting vegan ice-cream based on navy beans and fruit and veggie flavored jellies made with ADM’s natural flavors, coloring foodstuffs and juice concentrates.
“At ADM, we use our comprehensive and proprietary research platforms to identify the trends that are defining the current and future food and beverage culture, both within Europe and across the world,” said Jochen Heininger, vice president, marketing and product management EMEAI, WILD Flavors and Specialty Ingredients, a business unit of ADM.
“By gaining insights into the shifts in the way people live, work and dine, our teams have an in-depth understanding of consumer attitudes and perceptions. Fi Europe is the ideal platform for us to demonstrate how we can leverage our expansive portfolio and technical support, to help developers solve specific market challenges and create great-tasting products.”
An expanding ingredient toolbox
As a leading end-to-end solutions provider, ADM’s technical advisors will be on hand throughout the show to discuss its full portfolio of flavorful, colorful, functional and nutritious ingredients, with a focus on its newly extended range of sweetening solutions to help with sugar and calorie reduction, adding body or mouthfeel or achieving a clean label claim.
This includes Fruit Up Fiber +, a fruit-based sweetening ingredient with the added benefit of fiber that recently won ‘Most Innovative Food Ingredient’ at the inaugural Gulfood Excellence Awards.
Based on naturally occurring carbohydrates, it provides developers with a lower sugar, clean label solution for a wide range of food and beverage applications.
Shortlisted for a Fi Europe Innovation Award, HIsolate soy protein range has recently joined ADM’s portfolio and is manufactured using a unique physical process, to retain natural goodness and allow for a clean label positioning.
Already an established leader in soy proteins for meat and vegetarian applications, ADM continues to expand its natural and organic options with whole-food ingredients, such as edible beans, as well as its recently added wheat protein concentrate, Nutriance, for sports and senior nutrition.
