It’s geared towards achieving a common understanding, terminology and point of reference for good practice for businesses involved in the delivery of food and to prevent substances from packaging materials from getting into food.

French Ecology Minister Attacks Nutella Over Palm Oil Use

19 Jun 2015 --- France’s Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, Ségolène Royal, has ruffled many feathers in the sustainable palm oil industry this week, by saying that consumers should stop eating chocolate spread brand Nutella, made by Ferrero. The minister, who made the comments on a television show, singled out the product, saying that it is made using palm oil, which contributes to deforestation.

Ferrero Mourns the Passing of Company Founder

16 Feb 2015 --- Michele Ferrero, owner of the Ferrero confectionery Group, has died at his home in Monaco at the age of 89 on February 14, 2015. His wife, Maria Franca, and son, Giovanni Ferrero, CEO of the Ferrero International, were by his side.

Tetra Pak Launches Package Made Entirely From Plant Based, Renewable Packaging Materials

16 Oct 2014 --- Tetra Pak, the world leader in food processing and packaging solutions, has announced the launch of the industry’s first carton made entirely from plant based, renewable packaging materials. The new Tetra Rex carton will be the first in the market to have bio-based low-density polyethylene (LDPE) films and bio-based high-density polyethylene (HDPE) caps, both derived from sugar cane, in addition to Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paperboard.

Australian Producer Fined for Local Honey that is not Honey, or Local

26 Jun 2014 --- An Australian company has been fined for misleading consumers about its honey, because it isn’t produced by bees. The product, which is mostly comprised of sugar from plants, including corn and sugar cane, should not be labelled as ‘honey’ according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
