Supply partnership: Univar and Cargill reach long-term agreement on ingredients
22 Feb 2018 --- Univar has entered into a strategic long-term agreement with Cargill's Food Ingredients & Bio Industrial business in the US and Canada. Customers will be able to enjoy the combined value of Cargill's respected product lines and Univar's extensive distribution network and access to food innovators.
Speaking to FoodIngredientsFirst, Gerald Briand, Vice President, USA Focused Industries at Univar says: “This agreement complements our food ingredients portfolio. We will continue to evaluate and evolve our product lines and offerings to meet the changing consumer demand. While it will benefit all of our food ingredient areas, we believe it will most positively impact the Prepared Foods, Snacks and Dairy categories.”
“We are further building out our innovation capabilities to support customers and suppliers’ evolving needs and market demands,” he adds.
Univar offers a diverse portfolio of specialty and commodity food ingredients from leading suppliers that support a variety of food and beverage categories and applications. Additionally, Univar is home to a consultative team of experts dedicated to providing recommendations on industry trends, regulatory issues and supply chain solutions.
“In a fragmented distribution network, expanding our business relationship with Cargill allows Univar to offer our customers an even broader selection of high-quality, innovative ingredients. This new agreement strengthens Univar's position as a leading food ingredients provider and trusted advisor to food producers in a wide variety of categories. Our global reach, focus on safety, and technical formulation expertise provides a strong value for food formulation customers,” says Briand.
“This partnership will bring improvements to supply chain, e-commerce, technical applications support and other critical components that bring value to the overall customer experience,” says Pat Rogers, Cargill's commercial leader, North America – Food Ingredients & Bio Industrial.
