“Expanding citrus offerings”: ADM acquires the Ziegler Group

18 Mar 2019 --- Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) is to acquire the Ziegler Group, a European provider of natural citrus flavor ingredients. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2019. The agreement comes shortly after ADM completed its addition of US-based citrus flavor provider Florida Chemical Company (FCC), which was officially completed earlier this month.

Securing citrus flavors: Givaudan champions biodiversity by funding Californian academic program

15 Mar 2019 --- Global flavor and fragrance house Givaudan and the University of California, Riverside (UCR) have embarked on the next phase of their long-term collaboration, with a US$3.5 million donation from Givaudan to support UCR’s Citrus Variety Collection. The donation is set to pay for a 2.8-acre screened structure for new trees and back-up trees and seeks to protect one of world’s most extensive and diverse assortments of citrus from the impending threat of Citrus Greening Disease, also known as Huanglongbing (HLB). The announcement comes at a time when citrus flavors are in high demand globally and peaking in the beverage space.

Naturex triples production capacity for spirulina with new extraction line

07 Mar 2019 --- Naturex, now a Givaudan business, is spearheading its investment in coloring foodstuffs with the launch of Vegebrite Ultimate Spirulina. A new extraction line, which triples spirulina production capacity, has been introduced at the company’s production site in Avignon, France. This expansion of Naturex’s manufacturing capacity has been designed to meet the growing global demand for clean label blues and greens. Natural blue color is claimed to provide a welcome solution in the industry’s continued quest for vibrant natural blue hues.
