Wessanen Buys Dutch Tea Company
10 Feb 2016 --- Wessanen, the European organic and natural food company, has purchased the Dutch tea brand Piramide tea from the Organic Flavor Company.
Wessanen, which operates in France, Germany, the Benelux and the UK, said it expected to complete the deal by March this year.
Piramide makes a broad range of teas, including herbal, black and green teas and is sold in health food stores across the Netherlands.
According to Wessanen, the purchase of Piramide will complement its existing portfolio of teas.
Christophe Barnouin, chief executive of Wessanen, said “The accretive acquisition of Piramide is a further step in the execution of our strategy and will strengthen our leadership of Organic teas in The Netherlands across both the Grocery Channel (with Zonnatura and Clipper) and now also Health Food Stores."
Barnouin adds: “It fits our ambition to build strong brands across all channels and to further strengthen and leverage our scale, expertise and capabilities in core categories. Piramide will further extend our overall leadership of the Health Food Store channel."
