AAK refines vegetable oils for specialised products which meet customers' high requirements. In partnership with its customers.

AAK are always on the look out for partners whose production relies on high value-added vegetable oils. The company says that this is what has made AAK the world's leading producer of speciality vegetable fats. The products are used as substitutes for dairy fat and cocoa butter, as transfree solutions for fillings for chocolate and confectionery products, as well as by the cosmetics industry.

The company’s raw materials are obtained from areas such as Asia and West Africa. AAK is committed to sustainable development and is one of the prime movers behind RSPO, the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil, and GreenPalm Ltd. Through these initiatives, AAK has contributed to the natural extraction of palm oil through natural agricultral development.

AAK's products originate in the plant kingdom and are renewable. This means that they achieve a minimal impact on the environment. AAK's products are used, for example, as lubricants for forestry machinery. The waste products discharged by the machinery to the eco-system during the production process have no harmful impact on the environment.

AAK is organised into three business areas: Chocolate & Confectionery Fats, Food Ingredients and Technical Products & Feed. The cosmetics unit, which is part of Chocolate & Confectionery Fats, is a rapidly-growing operation.

 Production facilities are located in Denmark, Mexico, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Sweden, Uruguay and the USA.

The perfect pizza experience? AAK develops flaked fats to enhance crust quality, taste and texture

18 Mar 2019 --- AAK has developed a new flaked fats ingredient solution range to help manufacturers create better pizzas. The new range is claimed to enhance crust quality, taste and texture, as well as offering easy handling during the production process. AAK’s flaked fats are positioned as “an ideal and simple way to improve the texture and mouthfeel of crusts in both thin and deep-pan pizzas.” This versatile solution allows for “the creation of a tasty product that can make production simpler, while opening the door to unique sensory experiences, whether the pizza is sold frozen, chilled, fresh, or as a dry-mix.”

Chinese ventures: AAK makes US$32m investment in special nutrition and bakery segments

12 Mar 2019 --- Eighteen months after inaugurating its production facility in Zhangjiagang, China, vegetable oils and fats supplier AAK has made “significant add-on investments.” Estimated at approximately SEK 300 million (US$32 million), these investments will seek to increase capacity and support volume growth for, in particular, its Special Nutrition and Bakery segments.

Weekly Roundup: Campbell Soup signs sale of Garden Fresh Gourmet, AAK acquires UK-based BD Foods

01 Mar 2019 --- This week in food industry news, Campbell Soup signed a definitive agreement for the sale of Garden Fresh Gourmet and Hain Celestial completed the first step in its divestiture of the Hain Pure Protein operating segment. Blue Diamond Growers entered into an agreement with Mexican Grupo Lala S.A.B. de C.V. for the commercialization of Almond Breeze almond-based beverages in Mexico. AAK acquired UK-based BD Foods to extend its customer co-development strategy and capabilities. Additionally, Darling Ingredients Inc. announced the financial results for its fiscal 2018 fourth quarter, which saw roughly a US$100 million decrease, while dairy company Emmi announced a 5.3 percent increase in profits, attributable to organic growth of its European and US divisions and favorable acquisitions and exchange rates. In other news, PureCircle expanded its commercial teams to broaden its sales reach.
