15 Mar 2019 --- Welch’s Global Ingredients Group has collaborated with Cornell University and the New York Wine & Grape Foundation to develop a proprietary technology that neutralizes the aroma and flavor of Welch’s signature Concord grape juice. Keeping pace with demand for high-quality and cost-effective blending wine, the Massachusetts-based grape juice supplier expanded into wine last summer and now the winemaking collaboration is starting to bear fruit.
31 Jan 2019 --- Non-profit US organization Consumer Reports (CR) has found “concerning levels” of heavy metals in almost half of the 45 popular fruit juices it tested. In a follow-up to previous tests in 2011, CR looked at four flavors (apple, fruit juice blends, grape and pear) from 24 national, store and private-label brands. Following the tests, CR is calling on the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to set “aggressive targets for cadmium, inorganic arsenic, and lead, in all fruit juices.”
20 Aug 2018 --- Welch’s Global Ingredients Group has embarked on a foray into the wine industry with the launch of a Niagara grape juice solution designed for a broad variety of different wine styles. According to the US ingredients supplier, the juice is perfect for fermentation and blending with wine made from more traditional wine grape varieties and even other fruits.
